Senior Connection Program
LINKS Community & Family Services believes seniors should age with dignity, independence, and strong community support. The Senior Connection Program reduces isolation, promotes wellness, and helps older adults in Akron remain active and engaged.
This free program creates a welcoming space where seniors build friendships, access helpful resources, and receive encouragement to maintain safe and healthy lifestyles. LINKS also provides referral services to connect seniors and families with additional community programs and support resources when needs extend beyond the services offered directly through our organization.
Program Features Include:
Held on the first Friday of each month, these gatherings include:
- An activity and guest speaker
- A nutritious, home-style meal
- Food for participants to take home
- A wellness check which includes blood pressure monitoring, blood sugar checks and general health observations
- Based on the results of the monthly wellness check-ins, this program performs home safety visits when needed
- Guidance and support to help seniors maintain independence
In collaboration with the Health Department, guest speakers provide information on topics such as:
- Health and wellness
- Financial and safety awareness
- Community resources
- Daily living support

Safe Home Support
Senior Home Visiting Service
The Senior Home Visiting Service extends care beyond our facility by bringing free support, companionship, and essential wellness services directly into the homes of older adults in Akron. This program is designed for seniors who may experience isolation or need additional support to remain safe and independent, with the goal of helping participants comfortably remain in their own homes for as long as possible.
Through regular personal visits, our team ensures seniors are supported physically, emotionally, and through connection to resources. Visit schedules are based on individual needs and may take place weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly to provide the appropriate level of care and connection.
Services provided during home visits include:
